from alex of boycotting trends (tumblr & blogspot):
On which Tori takes that most familiar of rock music topics - the horny guy’s come-on - and turns up the heat, not ironizing the song’s lustful appeal but simply *inhabiting* it and thereby transforming it into one woman’s expression of desire for another. The result is one of her sexiest-ever covers. Or as Christie Keith puts it: “Bruce Springsteen may be an honorary lesbian just for writing so many love songs that become even hotter when sung by a woman. Add to that the liquid sex of Tori Amos’ voice growling, ‘Hey, little girl, is your daddy gone, did he go out and leave you all alone?’, and it’s possible lesbian cover song nirvana is at hand.”

September has been an absolutely INCREDIBLE month for music. Here’s why, in order of amazingness.
- Sarah Slean - Land & Sea
- Tori Amos - Night Of Hunters
- Nicola Roberts - Cinderella’s Eyes
- Promise And The Monster - Red Tide
- Björk - Biophilia (Sure, the release date got pushed to Oct. But it was due to be out in Sept. and it leaked in Sept. So I’m counting it.)
- St. Vincent - Strange Mercy
- Zola Jesus - Conatus
I admire Tori, for so many reasons. How did she turn this short interview into a love story, when it started with such hostile questions? Admireable
“Rose so red
This Night of Hunters
Find love instead of their blood by your thorn…”
It has been suggested that this song influenced the new Tori Amos track, “Nautical Twilight”.
Songs without Words Op. 30 No. 6 in F# Minor (Venetian Gondola Song) - Felix Mendelssohn
I can’t wait.
